Attorney Profile

Attorney Janice Ampil-Gatbunton graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Speech Communications in 1992. She went on to obtain her Juris Doctor degree from Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1996.

Upon graduating from law school, Atty. Gatbunton gained valuable experience working for one of the largest bankruptcy firms in the Chicagoland area. She then moved on to join a boutique general practice law firm in downtown Chicago where she learned the importance of serving the individual needs of her clients. During these formative years as a lawyer, she quickly acquired much courtroom experience, sharpened negotiating skills, and garnered a reputation for being a zealous advocate for her clients. 

After earning the respect of her colleagues and gaining the trust of her clients, Atty. Gatbunton opened her own law office in January 2000. Since then, her practice grew to encompass the areas of real estate transactions, estate planning matters, as well as consumer bankruptcy law. Now with over 28 years of experience, Atty. Gatbunton continues to serve her clients’ legal needs from her main office in Schaumburg.

In addition to her role as a lawyer and solo practitioner, Atty. Gatbunton is also a licensed real estate broker. In 2005, she opened her own real estate brokerage, MAG-1 Realty. In her capacity as a Realtor®, Janice has successfully helped countless homeowners, homebuyers, landlords, tenants, investors, and businesses in selling, buying, and/or leasing real estate in Illinois. Recently, she also obtained her real estate broker’s license in Florida and she is now ready and happy to assist all those who need a Realtor® in Florida as well.

Outside her professional life, Janice is active in her church and her community. She enjoys participating in various small groups and looks forward to Bible studies every week. She has also proudly served as an elected official for several terms on the Board of Education for District 10 and also for District 108. Janice has been married for 24 years to her loving husband. They have two beautiful young adult daughters and a devoted, tightly-knit, extended family. In her free time, Janice loves traveling and vacationing with her family and friends.
